In 2012, Jonathan joined Reward Gateway. He spent the beginning of his career with us in our London office and 17 months later relocated to our office in Sydney, Australia. He has a huge passion for sales, customer service and employee engagement. With over 10 years of experience, across 3 of our major markets, he has stepped into a senior role, heading up the AU SMB Sales Team across Australia and New Zealand. Jon is going to share his experience of life at Reward Gateway and what you can expect from our rapidly growing sales team!

So Jonathan, let's begin by learning a bit about you.

Hi! I’m Jonathan, Head of SMB Sales Australia and New Zealand, I’m based in Sydney, Australia. I’m passionate about sport and travel outside of work but within my day to day role, working with HR on their challenges and needs gets me out of bed every day!

From live executive presentations to internal training, call listening and shadowing to weekly 1-2-1 with the team and most importantly bringing on new business and celebrating our success as a team. Working at RG is very fast-paced and if you love change, this certainly is the place to be.

I began my career in the UK and got given a once in the lifetime opportunity to move to Australia when I was 25. The great outdoors is perfect for me, because I enjoy playing tennis, snowboarding and golf. My love for travel gives me a huge opportunity to see the world from Australia and I’ve been to over 80 countries!

My favourite RG value is “Be Human”. This means you can bring the whole version of your individual uniqueness to RG every single day and really strive for whatever role or position you are in within this amazing organisation. I also LOVE to delight our customers and solve HR’s needs on a daily basis.

What advice would you give anyone interested in applying?

Now that I have worked in the employee engagement and HR SaaS industry for over 10 years, my advice to anyone that wants to join RG is to be yourself, and bring your A-game to every situation from the interview process to your first day! This is an awesome organisation to work for and an amazing opportunity for you to grow in your personal and professional. We receive so many market-leading benefits and this place is like working alongside your family and friends week in and week out.

HR is an awesome demographic to speak to and their energy is infectious! We’re really on a mission to make the world a better place to work, if you truly believe in this - you’ll do superb things here at RG!

What opportunities are there for career development?

I’ve been in 3 different roles in 10 years at RG so career development is massive for us all. From working on SMB only revenue back in the UK to moving into the Corporate and Enterprise space, here in Australia and then into a senior manager role, the journey has been just incredible!

There is so much potential for the right candidate to expedite their progression journey at RG and once you have your foot in the door, you’ll really see what I am talking about. I’ve never worked alongside as many passionate professionals in my career and every day your voice is heard and valued. Be vulnerable, be willing to learn, be willing to work hard - the sky's the limit! We focus a lot on career development so there are many chances for you to attend off-site courses, and internal training and you will get a lot of trust and autonomy here at RG, so if you love making decisions quickly or on the spot, this is the place for you!

What opportunities are you excited about?

Post pandemic, attraction and retention of employees have never been harder. One of my passions here at RG is how we can make organisations strive in the current climate. No matter what industry you work in, our products and services support the ongoing journey of keeping employees happy and motivated within their workplace.

I’m excited about innovation, new product releases and mergers and acquisitions. One of the things I love about my role is how easily and quickly we can really make a difference for our clients, no matter how large or small they are!

As I mentioned earlier, every day is different at RG, it changes fast, good change is what keeps the ship sailing and innovation is what keeps us ahead!

What are your favourite benefits?

Our benefits and EVP are endless, working with HR across multiple sectors gives me a lot of exposure to what companies are doing for their people and I can proudly say, I’ve never seen a benefits package quite like what we receive here at RG! From additional leave to sabbaticals and share schemes, baby and wedding bonuses, free development books and time off when you just really need to take some time out!

Work is work and your personal life is just as important, I recently took advantage of Reward Gateway's sabbatical benefit with a 4-month trip around Latin America. My team stepped in while I was away RG gave me an opportunity to go on a once in a lifetime trip to a continent I've always wanted to visit!

One thing for sure here at RG, is you will be rewarded for your hard work and determination and WELL looked after when it comes to perks and benefits! Drop me a line on Linkedin if you have any questions about what it’s really like to work here. I look forward to hearing from you!
