Your Role in Our Mission
We are seeking a skilled Test Automation Engineer with a strong focus on front-end automation testing to join our Quality Engineering team for the SmartPay platform. In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, and execute automated tests for web and API applications, driving quality and reliability. Experience with performance and back-end testing is a valuable asset. You will collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines and shift testing left.

Key Responsibilities
Test Automation & Framework Ownership
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web and API testing.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and reporting.
- Build test suites across DevOps stages to ensure rapid feedback and continuous quality.
- Own and run existing JMeter scripts; maintain and expand coverage over time.
- Collaborate with the team to shift performance testing earlier in the lifecycle.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Align automation strategy with wider quality objectives, working with the team.
- Partner with engineers to embed testing early in the SDLC.
- Collaborate on coding standards, test design, and automation best practices.
Skills
- Hands-on experience in UI automation (Cypress, or similar).
- Comprehensive grasp of OOP concepts and design patterns.
- Proficiency in programming languages (JavaScript or TypeScript or Python or similar).
- Experience with API testing (Postman or Bruno or similar) and SQL for data validation.
- Background in Agile and DevOps environments, with CI/CD and version control systems (Git).
- Hands on experience using containerization platforms (Docker).
- Familiarity with cloud (AWS) environments.
- Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter or similar).
- Experience of working with TCMS (BrowserStack products).
- Strong communication skills, able to work across engineering and product teams.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Technically confident, with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Willingness to learn and lead performance testing practices as they evolve.
- Working knowledge of non-functional quality: accessibility basics (WCAG), performance basics and security/privacy awareness in test data.
- Contract testing with Pact (or similar).
- Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for QA - using agents/models to generate/maintain tests and other activities.
The Interview Process
- Screening interview with the Talent Acquisition Partner
- First Stage Interview with a Senior QA Engineer.
- Final Stage online interview with the QA Manager and an Engineering Lead.
