Your role in our Mission
The Junior Staff Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. You will work closely with other team members to ensure compliance with accounting standards and help facilitate month-end closing processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, allowing you to develop your skills in accounting software and financial analysis while contributing to the overall success of the finance team. 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable: 
  • Code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts  
  • Process vendor payments according to payment terms   
  • Reconcile AP aging reports and identify potential issues 
  • Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable, including accruals and reconciliations 
  • Process employee expense reimbursements 
  • Review and reconcile company credit card transactions 
  • Process 1099’s at year end

Accounts Receivable: 
  • Generate customer invoices based on sales orders 
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments  
  • Apply customer payments to appropriate accounts  
  • Resolve customer billing discrepancies and disputes  
  • Prepare and analyze aging reports for AR balances   

General Accounting Functions: 
  • Prepare necessary journal entries for AR and AP transactions  
  • Reconcile bank statements and identify discrepancies  
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing process  
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accounting software 

Skills:
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Prior experience with Oracle based accounting software preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel 
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills 

Skills

Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting or related experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related educational experience 
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer  
  • May work at computer monitors for prolonged periods with danger of eye strain and muscle pain
