In March 2017, Rebecca joined Reward Gateway as a Client Success Manager. Within a year she was promoted twice within the team. Her focus on delighting our customers, personal development and our Mission, meant she was able to boost her career and it led her to become our Head of UK Client Success for SMB and Corporate. It's not just her work life that has grown during her time at Reward Gateway; she also got married and brought her first home! Hooray! She's a keen gardener, growing many green and flowery things, and she's a proud owner of two cats, that you'll likely hear lots about. She likes to focus on her own well-being with frequent spin and step classes.

With a growing team, you'll find many opportunities to join Rebeccas' team and so we asked her to share with us more about her experience and what it's like to work here.

Rebecca, let's begin with why you Love Your Job?

I’m really proud of my journey. Having joined five years ago as a CSM, I’m now Head of the Department! I managed the Corporate team for 2.5 years and after a short stint as HoD in the US - broadening my knowledge of Reward Gateway in different countries.

I also love the variety. No two days are the same and that stems from working with a team of Client Success Managers whose clients all have unique challenges which we help to solve. Every day is a new challenge, some good, some bad, some difficult. It keeps my brain moving. I nearly always learn a new skill or am able to put to use a skill I’ve learned to help me to overcome various challenges.

I didn't realise when I joined RG that I would love the commercial element of my role as much as I do now. I joined with limited experience and exposure to negotiations and have been able to learn from talented colleagues to get comfortable doing this and refine this skill.

I also really love the flexibility and work/life balance. We were flexible pre-pandemic but we’ve been able to adapt during the pandemic and evolve our approach to flexible working. I know that when needed I'll put some extra hours in to get my work done, but I also know that if I need/want to leave early, or squeeze a personal appointment into my day, I have the flexibility to do that without needing to seek approval from management.

I'm lucky to live close to a gym and I do a spin class most Friday mornings. I have the autonomy to start my working day early and get a head start on the day, before heading out to my class, and then logging on when I get back home after the class to pick up where I left off.

What made you want to join?

Initially, the fact that my best friend worked here. She referred me as she loved her job, (she also benefited from our great Referral Bonus too!) and when I started looking into what Reward Gateway is all about, and how the business empowers HR to help make their employees' lives better, I felt that was something I could really get behind.

Plus the technology is great! It looked (and is) really easy to use and is actually quite fun to get to grips with.  At the time of joining, I’d spent several years working in Relocations but I wasn’t loving my job.  This gave me some experience in dealing with HR as a client, which did help and I was able to lean on that in my first few months on the job.

So, what advice would you give anyone interested in applying for your team?

Be honest about your development areas - most people try to dress this up at an interview and flip it into a strength but I love it when I meet someone who is self-aware enough to know what their development areas are and is able to articulate that. It will help us in the long term to know how we can best support you too and where to focus our efforts on.

What’s the culture like?

I have never worked anywhere like RG. I seriously doubt there is another business out there anything like it. For me, this culture is collaborative, inclusive, driven, and supportive.

What says more about the culture for me is the number of RG colleagues who I now consider to be close friends - in fact, a lot of them were at my wedding, and I’m now on my third referral into the business!  You wouldn’t want to refer a friend, unless you really love your job, and you wouldn’t refer someone who wouldn’t represent you well at work either.

Do you have a favourite benefit?

Not just one favourite. I actually have quite a few and for different reasons.

The 'Easyway to Stop Smoking' course paid for by Reward Gateway. I completed the 1-day course over three years ago and completely stopped smoking. I’d never have done that without Reward Gateway and it has completely changed my life.

I am the ultimate shopper and need no encouragement to indulge in retail therapy. I get a lot of value from the shopping discounts - and I love to save myself a few pounds here and there. In fact, I've saved over £2,000 since joining!

I also really love and believe in the power of recognition. I love the fact that we use our own products, including eCard and monetary recognition tools to recognise and be recognised. Being ‘seen’ by senior members of the business makes a huge difference to my levels of job satisfaction.

I’ve also been fortunate to benefit from the Wedding bonus, the Wellbeing Allowance of £400 pays towards my annual gym membership and I’ve received the referral bonus for the people I’ve introduced to the business,
