For over a decade Fehed has enjoyed a career in Sales, and the last four years of that has been with our UK Sales team and entirely focused on making the world a better place to work. Joining Reward Gateway as Employee Engagement Specialist, Fehed's love for learning and engagement in our career development programmes meant he was soon promoted to Senior Employee Engagement Specialist and loves his job.

We asked Fehed to share five minutes to talk about his experience and share some insight for anyone looking to apply for a role at RG.

So, tell us why the Sales team at RG is so different to others you've worked in?

I guess one of the things that stood out to me is the fact that unlike a lot of the other organizations I've worked for in Sales, where it's pretty much in the door, out the door, Reward Gateway cares about developing you as a person and developing you as a career there as well.

Whilst we do have targets like all Sales teams and KPIs, one of the big things that we're trying to push for is a genuine conversation with a prospect. We know that an HR person will eventually find the need to use our platform, whether in six months, a year, or even a decade. But having conversations and nurturing relationships is probably the most important aspect of working at RG. Compared to other organizations potentially where you're making 100's of calls a day. It's a relationship-led approach at Reward Gateway.

And what's it like selling to HR?

Selling to HR is very, very interesting. It's not as difficult as it is, let's say, selling to I.T or Marketing teams who I've sold to in the past. What I find with HR is even if it's a "No", it's usually a "No for now". They will be interested a couple of months down the line because of the genuine need for the products that we sell here at Reward Gateway.

What's the Leadership style like?

I would say is very much dependent on how you work as a person. It's not very much a top-down-manager-led organisation where they tell you what to do, and you do it. It's a case of you tell your team and tell your leaders how it is you wanna be managed, and they kind of take things from there.

On top of that, there is the Senior Leadership team. It's amazing and inspiring to have people who have worked for large multinational organisations and they're helping make the world a better place to work, which is our mission here. So yeah, just very, very excited and very happy with how the leadership team operates.

Once a quarter you get together for the UK Sales Day. What's that like?

Once every quarter, we have a Sales day in which we can celebrate big wins and learn from some of the losses. We celebrate the quarter. Working as a Hybrid team, it's good to get a chance to get everyone in the same room together, sharing good stories and all those different kinds of things. It's always nice to catch up and learn best practices from each other.

How do you find the flexible, hybrid model that Reward Gateway offers?

Flexible hybrid working is amazing. I mean myself, I'm a flexible hybrid worker living in Birmingham, and I often come to the London office. There's never been any animosity around me working from home. It's encouraged to put your well-being first, and it's just one of the major benefits of working here.

What's the personal development opportunities like?

Learning and development have been fantastic. We've just signed up to Sales Impact Academy, which is superb for the Sales team. Reward Gateway will always push you to do things outside and inside of work, and it's one of the biggest strengths of working here. I started off working in the SMB team as a relatively new salesperson. Now I'm managing a team.

What's your favourite product?

My favourite product would have to be retail discounts, I'll be perfectly honest with you. I mean, I use them pretty much all the time. I love my movies, so every time I can go to the cinema and pay half price, more than happy with that. So yeah, definitely employee discounts for me.

What's your favourite benefit?

The Book Benefit because I'm a massive junkie when it comes to reading. Plue, the wellbeing benefit that we get is superb; £400 each year to spend on your own personal well-being, which could be anything from gym memberships, workout classes, mental health, or anything that will help you improve your wellbeing.
