Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close process:
- Control, prepare, and circulate the month-end timetable working with the Finance and FP&A teams to ensure all reporting requirements are met
- Work with the AP and AR teams to ensure their ledgers are closed in line with the close timetable
- Work with a team of management accountants to ensure that all month-end journals are posted timely and accurately and that balance sheet reconciliations are prepared
- Prepare and manage the monthly Group Management Accounts file, ensuring that this is kept up to date throughout the month-end reporting process and with changing reporting requirements
- Present the monthly results and explain month-on-month variance to the Senior Finance Team and also complete trend analysis using your knowledge of the business when needed
- Assist in the supervision of the Management Accountants, helping them to resolve issues and record transactions accurately
- Identify issues in the balance sheet and put an action plan in place to resolve such issues
- Assist in the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements on an annual basis for submission to the Auditors
- Assist in implementing improvements to the month-end reporting process and wider Finance process remit
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the Finance Team on ad hoc tasks at any given time
Skills
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, and their equivalents) with strong excel skills. If you are close to completing your studies you will also be considered
- Have a technical understanding of the dynamics between Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, and Cash flow
- Experience in managing the month end close process and presenting month end results
- Comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment where monthly reporting requirements are subject to change on a month-by-month basis
- Experience of working with an international group of entities, reporting in multiple currencies and on a consolidated basis
- Tangible experience in identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Work flexibly to ensure that the overall team deadlines are met - this will involve being able to prioritise and delegate tasks where vital
- Experience of working in a global team and being able to build positive relationships with key collaborators
- High attention to detail coupled with a logical approach to problem-solving
This role offers a hybrid work style and would require the successful Management Accountant to be on-site in the London office at least 1 day per week.
