Due to business growth and expansion, an opportunity has become available for a Data Engineer to join our Core Data Platform team. You will be responsible for developing new functionality in our core data platform, from new data pipelines to ingest data from a variety of sources, to how we manage and maintain data quality in our reporting outputs.

You will collaborate closely with other data engineers within the core data platform team, and the Head of Data, to ensure that we are building a solid data foundation. You will work closely with our data product teams, to ensure that the data platform can provide the data that these teams rely on. You will also work closely with the other Product and Engineering teams across Reward Gateway, to ensure they can easily use the core data platform to drive decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to design and build the core data platform that can be used across the entire Reward Gateway business, and by our users, clients, and partners
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to manage the infrastructure related to the data platform
  • Monitor and support issues identified in the day-to-day running of the data platform
  • Collaborate to develop and implement coding standards and best practices across the data group, to ensure code quality, readability, and maintainability
  • Create and maintain data testing frameworks and procedures to validate data quality, integrity, and accuracy
  • Work closely with our Data Product teams, to deliver business value on the top of the core data platform

Skills

  • Excellent practical knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Proven experience designing, building, and delivering data pipelines to support various business functions, ensuring scalability and performance
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and best practices for structuring data to meet business needs
  • Knowledge of Terraform or similar tools, with experience managing infrastructure as code to streamline deployment processes
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and databases, ideally with AWS, including services such as Glue, S3, Redshift, and Lambda
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and experience implementing testing procedures to validate data integrity and accuracy
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Data Product, and Engineering teams, to drive data-driven decision-making
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies to support collaborative development practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues in the data platform


The Interview Process

  • A video interview with the Senior Talent Partner and the Head of Data. This should last no longer than 40 minutes
  • A final video interview of 75 minutes consisting of a coding task with the Head of Data and Engineering Manager
