Senior PHP Developer

Engineering, London, Full Time, £70,000 - £75,000 / year

Your Role in Our Mission

Our mission is to make the world a better place to work and to achieve this mission we need to develop products our customers will fall in love with. This is where you come in, your role in our mission is to support with:
  • High quality, timely implementations of technical specifications that can be deployed to our clients
  • Clean, well-designed and tested PHP code adhering to internal standards and/or industry best-practices

Key Responsibilities

  • Defining, interpreting and developing software to written requirements and technical specifications.
  • Troubleshooting, testing and maintaining the core product and databases to ensure it is functional and scalable.
  • Suggesting improvements to existing products and implementing them across our platform.
  • Working with other members of the team to help deliver significant new features to the business based on their requirements.
  • Prioritising your work and delivering projects adhering to deadlines.

Skills

  • Candidates will have at least 3 years of experience with web application backend development and a very good level of PHP7+ and MySQL (or other DBMS) knowledge along with most of the following: 
  • Successful proven experience delivering solutions in PHP, with an understanding of agile development principles and good software engineering practices.
  • Experience developing and using APIs and OAuth2 authorisation protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of Test Driven Development and Domain Driven Design practices.
  • Knowledge of the Linux command line and containerised environments.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Elasticsearch, Memcached, and other services is a significant plus.
  • Understanding of the full web-stack, from relational databases to working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like React, and also  HTML/CSS.
  • Experience using Symfony or other frameworks is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Final stage video interview with the Director of Engineering and Senior Product Manager
