As the Head of Data & Analytics, you will be responsible for developing our data analytics strategy and products, to support business decisions and drive growth. You will guide its implementation, enabling the business to achieve its goals at pace, providing business stakeholders unparalleled insight into the organisation’s processes and delivering innovative products to market.

You will address cross-cutting issues related to technology and infrastructure, such as data collection, storage, processing, and provide technical leadership and champion data & analytics across the business. You will work closely with various departments to collect, prepare, organise, and analyse data while ensuring that ethical principles, regulatory compliance, and technical robustness are maintained.

This is a senior role leading the future of data & analytics strategy for a software-as-a-service company. You will need to delight your customers and effectively communicate a data & analytics strategy, its impact, and results. You must also “own it” and practically build and develop a team to deliver data products matching the strategy. This will require you to push the boundaries to implement automation and machine learning models in a production-grade environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the vision and strategy for data and analytics that enables and facilitates the organisational goals
  • Identify areas where data-driven insights can create a competitive advantage
  • Build a strategic roadmap outlining key projects, timelines, and resources required
  • Implement the roadmap with a consistent and modern operating model
  • Be responsible for data computing, processing, and storage infrastructure as well as ensuring the availability, reliability, and scalability of it
  • Establish regular progress reviews and updates to ensure alignment and continuous improvement
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and agile project organisation.
  • Encourage collaboration between data and analytics teams and other departments
  • Develop and implement data and analytics governance measures to ensure ethical principles, regulatory compliance, and technical robustness
  • Establish a plan for operationalising machine-learning solutions and maintaining production-grade environments
  • Provide line management and mentorship to team members

Skills

  • Demonstrable ability to develop a data and analytics strategy aligned with business goals and execute it
  • Experience in managing complex data and analytics projects, including defining scope, setting timelines, allocating resources, and managing risks
  • Knowledge of data management and warehousing, ETL processes, data quality, and data governance, as well as data analytics and visualisation tools
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, algorithms, and frameworks is important
  • Experience with large-scale data platforms running in the cloud (particularly Amazon Web Services) and knowledge of infrastructure, service offerings, and architecture best practices
  • Experience with and deep knowledge of large volume real-time data streams as well as batch processing data systems and products built on top of these
  • Experience with owning and maintaining legacy data systems alongside a modern data platform (including real-time streams, data lakes, etc.) and strategically managing the migration of the aforementioned ones
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations, as well as experience in implementing ethical machine learning practices to maintain client trust and compliance
  • Ability to lead and empower global, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, leadership, delegation, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at various levels ranging from Leadership Team members to technical specialists
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask in a fast-paced and rapidly growing business
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), SQL, and data management platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) a plus

  • Online interview with the Director of Product Strategy and Product Manager: Analytics
  • Final interview with the CTO and the Director of Engineering
